Yoshi-P Leaves Square Enix Board of Directors, Likely Pleased

Square Enix has lately announced some modifications to its managerial structure, and reportedly, they’ve commenced putting those changes into action. This represents positive news for Final Fantasy XIV‘s director Naoki Yoshida, who has been a part of the board since 2018, even though he didn’t really desire that role. The modifications indicate that he’s stepping down from the role. However, this doesn’t imply he’s entirely relinquishing his executive duties, as he retains his executive officer title, and will be transitioning to the executive management committee next month, as stated by GamesRadar+.

It important to clarify that this change should not cause any concerns. As highlighted by Dot Esports, Yoshi-P expressed during a conversation with Dutch newspaper NRC that he preferred not to be a part of the board. In his own words, “it’s much more fun to just make games”. It’s difficult to dispute that sentiment. Creating games is likely more straightforward without the additional responsibilities and concerns that come with being on a Board of Directors.
