What became of the multiplayer survival RPG, Frozen Flame?

Recall the game Frozen Flame? It’s okay if the multiplayer survival RPG isn’t fresh in your memory as the developer, Dreamside Interactive got crowdfunding on Fig back in 2020 and transitioned through several test phases until finally launching early access two years later. After that, updates began to decrease until the release of a roadmap last year, followed by an open alpha for a new update in May this year. Since then, there has been little to no communication from the team.

So, what exactly occurred with this game? It seems that according to a message from the game’s director in August shared by the official Discord’s moderator, development has significantly slowed down. He recognizes that the work on the game is done voluntarily, attributes negative criticism as an obstacle for the project, and states that funds from publishers Ravenage Games and 2P Games have been fully utilized while the sales income is being used to reimburse the publisher’s expenses. He further attributes the lack of additional funding to “the ongoing crisis in the industry” and the after-effects of the Ukraine invasion. Note, Dreamside Interactive is a Cyprus-based organization.

In the meantime, Dreamside’s founder, Serge Korolev, has now established a new entity named Misterial Games, which is developing two horror games. For Frozen Flame, Steam user reviews are discouraging potential buyers by claiming that the game has been abandoned, and it largely seems to be true.
