WEMADE Announces Steam Playtest for New Tactical FPS Black Vultures: Prey of Greed July 25-28

WEMADE Reveals Steam Playtest of Black Vultures: Prey of Greed, a New Tactical FPS, from July 25-28

South Korean game developer and publisher, WEMADE, is gearing up to roll out a public playtest of their latest tactical first-person shooter, Black Vultures: Prey of Greed. The game, a creation of THISMEANSWAR, a WEMADE studio, will be open for public testing via Steam from July 25 to July 28, specifically aimed at players from North and South America.

The upcoming playtest is a significant event as it provides the first opportunity for the public to experience Black Vultures. This follows a focus group test in April, which yielded a considerable enhancement in many aspects of gameplay. Based on early player feedback, the development team exerted efforts in finetuning elements such as combat balance, control systems and the overall player experience. Players intrigued by the game can request access on the game’s official Steam page, with further access opportunities on the official Discord server.

In order to give a glimpse of the player experience, two trailers have been launched. One revolves around the foundation of gameplay, while the second offers insights into the game’s AI-driven combat system that is a product of collaboration with NVIDIA.

The essence of Black Vultures: Prey of Greed rests in the tactical FPS genre. The game throws players into a combative environment devoid of extensive resources. Each mission demands players to operate under pressure, balancing risks and rewards whilst competing against competing squads. Here are the primary gameplay features:

  • Three-Faction Conflict: Scuffles against two other squads without any alliances result in unpredictable conflict and fluid tactics.
  • Life Ticket System: Shared pool of respawns for each team. The stakes get high once the pool is used up and each player’s survival becomes a priority.
  • Team-Based Looting: Loot goes into a collective squad inventory and becomes accessible only after successful extraction, necessitating strong coordination.

With an ambition to make a mark in the tactical shooter market, Black Vultures: Prey of Greed incorporates features seen in games like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown. These predominantly include risk-vs-reward and squad tactics. Unique team mechanics and AI-driven combat, invested by WEMADE, could differentiate it from competitors in the future. The effectiveness of the AI mechanics will unfold with time.
