Top Six Games with Real-World Cookbooks

From time to time, I receive messages showcasing cookbooks inspired by various popular gaming franchises. Sadly, many of these titles don’t align with the games we generally discuss here. Otherwise, I’d delve into all of them joyously. Cookbooks have a charming appeal. Recently, I found myself pondering how some virtual dishes look quite appetizing. This observation holds true for nearly all anime-styled games, as the culinary creations often appear mouthwatering (unless intentionally portrayed as unappetizing for comedic effect).

More specifically, I was curious if a cookbook existed that featured recipes from Zenless Zone Zero’s noodle establishment, Waterfall Soup. To the best of my knowledge, it doesn’t. However, my exploration wasn’t entirely unfruitful. I discovered various cookbooks inspired by some of our beloved free-to-play titles. While some are already out, others are available for pre-order, all promising delectable offerings.

Hearthstone Cookbook

Hearthstone: Innkeeper’s Tavern Cookbook

By Chelsea Monroe-Cassel

This cookbook debuted in 2017, featuring 50 recipes inspired by Blizzard’s card game, Hearthstone. Its design mimics Harth Stonebrew’s cookbook, showcasing recipes that range from mac & cheese to drinks. Notably, the hardcover version is priced under $6 on Amazon, though only a single copy is available currently. Alternatively, it’s also offered in Kindle format.

Overwatch Cookbook

Overwatch: The Official Cookbook

By Chelsea Monroe-Cassel

It appears that Monroe-Cassel is Blizzard’s preferred author for cookbooks, at least for this and Hearthstone. This cookbook features recipes inspired by characters from the renowned shooter. Since each character originates from a real-world locale, the recipes highlight their respective homelands. However, keep in mind that this book pertains to the original Overwatch, meaning some recent characters from Overwatch 2 may not be included.

Destiny 2 Cookbook

Destiny: The Official Cookbook

By Victoria Rosenthal

Speaking of cookbooks based on shooter franchises, have you considered culinary creations inspired by the Destiny universe? This cookbook, authored by Victoria Rosenthal, compiles recipes sourced by Eva Levante after the Red War.

Guild Wars 2 Cookbook

Guild Wars 2: Feasts of Tyria Recipes from Kryta to Elona

By Victoria Rosenthal and Erin Kwong

Clearly, some authors are exceedingly passionate about crafting video game-themed cookbooks, which is exciting for us. In this instance, the book hasn’t been released yet, but it’s coming soon. Amazon indicates that the Guild Wars 2 cookbook will be available on September 16. Featuring over 60 recipes from the vibrant world of Tyria, it also includes a code for a rare spear skin: Seimur’s Butterknife.

Dungeons And Dragons Cookbook

Heroes’ Feast (Dungeons & Dragons): The Official D&D Cookbook

By Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson, and others

I’ll admit that this choice stretches the categorization a bit, as this cookbook isn’t directly affiliated with a specific MMO or online game. Nonetheless, D&D has its online adaptations, so it fits reasonably well. Heroes’ Feast presents an array of recipes, from Elven Bread to Orc Bacon (notably, it’s unclear if this refers to bacon prepared by orcs or bacon made from orcs). The book also features vegetarian options for those interested.

Genshin Impact Cookbook

Genshin Impact Official Cookbook: Culinary Journeys Across Teyvat

By Thibaud Villanova

As someone who enjoys Genshin Impact, I can attest that the game’s culinary offerings look delightful. This cookbook features a range of recipes inspired by Teyvat, specifically from the first four regions players explore. It even includes introductions from Michelin-star chefs. Though not yet released, it will debut soon, with a release date set for September 2.
