Without a doubt, MMOs can sometimes feel overwhelming, given their multitude of tasks and activities that require time to complete. While undertaking these tasks is a part of the gaming experience, repetition can often sap the fun out of it. It becomes doubly frustrating when the task you are keen on is gated behind activities that are far from appealing.
Auto-play features serve as a breather in such situations. These aren’t akin to idle games, but they offer respite, particularly when redundant or overly time-consuming tasks can be delegated to the game, freeing you to focus on other aspects.
In this article, we list a few MMOs that provide helpful auto-play options– a way to break the monotony of your gaming grind.
Old-school RuneScape
From our list, Old-school RuneScape from Jagex provides a significant degree of auto-play, facilitating nearly laid-back playthroughs. This shouldn’t be applied to every aspect of the game, but it’s certainly helpful for tasks like farming.
Aion Classic
Aion Classic from NCSoft offers auto-play primarily for its auto-hunt feature, allowing players to complete grinds while performing other activities. Do note it won’t cover the in-game story for you.
Black Desert Online
In Black Desert Online, the auto-play feature of AFK fishing has gained significant popularity. This lets players leave their characters to fish, freeing them for other activities. An excellent tool for those aiming to amass wealth in the game.
Eve Online
CCP Games’ Eve Online is an intense space MMO that even requires players to insure their ships and characters to avoid total loss upon defeat. However, it does provide auto-play features that simplify tasks like resource gathering and crafting. It also enables auto-pilot for interstellar transits; players should simply be cautious regarding its application.
Lineage II: Revolution
The only exclusive mobile game on our list, Netmarble’s Lineage 2: Revolution, offers a comprehensive auto-play mechanism. This allows players to automate several tasks including fighting and questing, thus enabling players to enjoy a Lineage game on mobile and delegate the more mundane aspects to the system.
