EverQuest, not willing to be upstaged by its younger counterparts, is preparing for its 31st expansion, The Outer Brood. The developers at Daybreak Games recently released thrilling details about what’s to come for adventurers in Norrath this coming December.
“You might recall from Fippy Fest last June, that this expansion is named The Outer Brood,” mentions studio head Jenn Chan, foreshadowing the turmoil ahead. The setting involves a colossal leviathan carrying an entire city on its back that has shown up over the long-abandoned area of Hodstock. According to Chan, “it’s not there for a casual visit. Fearsome creatures descend from that city, beasts that have never before been seen in Norrath! What is the origin of these creatures, and what could they possibly be after?”
These extraordinary intruders are so large that even the elder dragons of Norrath appear minor in comparison. “These entities are so massive that few elder Norrathian dragons would reach above its knees,” Chan teases, alluding to the scale of the threat that players are about to face in The Outer Brood.
The beta tests and preorders are scheduled to begin in late October, with the full expansion expected to launch in December, just in time for the festive season. For those seeking a challenge, the upcoming EverQuest 2‘s expansion, Scars of Destruction, is sure to keep even the most experienced MMORPG players alert.
