The legendary Final Fantasy XIV mobile version will begin testing in China from May 23, announces MMORPGBR.

The mobile edition of the iconic Final Fantasy XIV, recently christened as Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World, is due to progress to the next stage in its development lifecycle. You heard it right! Both Square Enix and Tencent Gams are forging ahead and have affirmed the commencement of a trial phase from May 23, which will occur primarily in China. Interested in more details? Let’s delve in deeper.

A unique trailer in Chinese was shared (the video clip can be found further down this post), by the LightSpeed Stubs team (a subsidiary of Tencent Gams handling the game’s development, under the oversight of Square). This revelation confirmed that a technical trial will commence on May 23, exclusively in China, and only on a minimal scale. This recruitment phase will last until May 22nd, providing the opportunity for players in the region to lightly experience the game whilst the development team scrutinizes technical elements, identifying potential errors and areas for enhancement.

Despite limitations restricting the trial solely to Chinese users, which understandably can cause some disappointment amongst Western gamers, it’s worth noting that such tests are indicators that the development team is making headway with the project. Considering we are still some time away from year’s end, a formal launch could potentially occur in 2025. If it happens to be a global release, that would indeed be a welcome bonus. Regardless, Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World is making promising progress, and it would be sensible to stay abreast with its latest updates.
