“Storm of Falling Stars” Update 1.4 for Zenless Zone Zero Introduces New Gameplay and Story Content

Zenless Zone Zero, an urban fantasy ARPG developed by HoYoverse, has released its 1.4 update, known as “A Storm of Falling Stars,” on December 18 for platforms including PS5 Pro, PS5, PC, and mobile. This version offers new gameplay modes, updated story stages, and superior visuals for PS5 Pro users.

Although the release of Zenless Zone Zero has not met the same success as other HoYoverse’s games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, it still enjoys significant popularity, ranking 12th and 2nd in U.S and Japan’s top-grossing games list on the app store, respectively.

What’s New in Version 1.4?

Renewed Main Story

This update enhances the main story by replacing the TV mode with immersive gameplay and exploration. The Prologue to Chapter 3 stages gets a fresh design, enabling players to guide Eous directly to explore the Hollows.

New Characters to Play

• Hoshimi Miyabi: A Frost Anomaly Void Hunter armed with an Ethereal-Slaying Katana, Tailless. She merges Icefire attacks with swift, deadly strikes.
• Asaba Harumasa: An Electric Agent who switches between bow and blade, aiming at enemies with Electro Quivers. Proxies reaching Inter-Knot Lv 8 after the update can acquire him for free.

Additional Features

• Hollow Zero: Shadows Lost: An extensive combat update taking place in the Lost Void. This feature brings improved support, new gear, and abilities.
• Deadly Assault: A recurring operation that introduces high-stake battles.
• Reverb Arena: Involves Bangboo-themed tower defense gameplay.

Improvements in Gameplay Experience

• Now Decibels will not apply to the whole squad enabling all members to consecutively use their Ultimates.
• A new feature Quick Sweep facilitates Shiyu Defense challenges.
• Advancement and character upgrades have been simplified.

Story Development

In Chapter 5, Proxies discover the truths about Sacrifice, Vision Corporation, and the Wise and Belle. The concluding part takes the players to Port Elpis, where Section 6 embarks on a quest to reveal the enigmas of New Eridu’s leadership crisis.

Enhancements for PS5 Pro

This update employs ray-tracing technology and delivers optimized performance, granting an enriched visual experience to PS5 Pro players.
