Star Trek’s 58th Anniversary Features Starfleet Museum in Online Game

In 1966, Star Trek nearly failed to receive a broadcast. The franchise enthusiasts are well aware of this historical fact. However, for those who don’t know, the credit for the development of the franchise into its present form goes to Lucille Ball. When other studios hesitated to support Gene Roddenberry’s series, Desilu Studios, owned by Ball, came to rescue. The studio ensured the filming of the original series pilot episode. She is thus acknowledged for the inception of the series.

The franchise is nearing its 60th anniversary, marking 58 years this weekend. Nonetheless, Star Trek Online has decided to commence the celebrations presently. The MMORPG has inaugurated a new “Starfleet Museum” in orbit above Deep Space Nine and Earth Space Dock. Players across all platforms can visit the museum and explore various attractions showcasing the illustrious ships from various Star Trek iterations. Interact with each ship to learn about its history, fascinating facts associated with its on-screen presence and behind-the-scenes, and hear from the ship’s crew.

Players can achieve a special title “Historical Documents Expert” by engaging with all 10 ships. The opportunity to do this will only be available until September 20th as the museum will close after this date.

In the run-up to the event, remember that Red Alert events will be returning next week. The events will commence on the 12th and last a week. Participate in any of the available Red Alerts once per day with any character and earn 1 daily progress point. Accumulate 5 points over the event to claim the “Grand Prize”: an Ultimate Tech Upgrade and a Specialization Point.
