Star Trek Online, the enduring free-to-play MMO based on Gene Roddenberry’s iconic sci-fi universe, is preparing to launch its 34th seasonal update. The new season, entitled Unleashed, will be available on PC starting September 23, 2025, followed by PlayStation and Xbox releases on November 11. This update continues the trend of integrating well-known Star Trek actors into the game’s narrative, featuring the return of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine and Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh.
Since its initial release in 2010, Star Trek Online has successfully employed a TV-style “season” format to maintain player engagement, consistently delivering new story arcs and cooperative missions every few months. Unleashed expands upon the ongoing Aetherian conflict and promises to challenge seasoned captains with a diverse range of space and ground combat encounters.
Key Features of Season 34:
- New Episode – “Best Laid Plans”: Respond to Hugh’s distress call at Deep Space 9, pursue the Aetherian leader Thaseen-Fei, and collaborate with Seven of Nine on a perilous extraction operation.
- New Five-Player TFO – “Shattered Peace”: Defend Khitomer Headquarters, repair dimensional rifts, and repel escalating waves of enemies while Seven leads the ground defense.
- Celebrity Voice Acting: Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco reprise their roles from Star Trek: Picard, a strategy that has effectively bridged the gap between established television lore and the game’s storyline.
- PC First, Consoles Later: The familiar staggered release schedule means PC players can dive in starting in late September, while console players will join the adventure in November.
After fifteen years of operation, few MMOs manage to integrate current television lore as seamlessly as Star Trek Online. With Paramount+ continuing to expand the Star Trek universe, Unleashed offers players another opportunity to interact with beloved characters while propelling the Aetherian storyline forward.
