Digital Extremes delivered a Soulframe development stream today. It provided a gameplay presentation and gave participants a glimpse into the developmental process of Prelude 8, as well as an understanding of what Prelude 9 might bring. The developers also allocated some time to handle queries from players.
The configuration of the stream is somewhat informal, with the developers engaging in an open discussion. It commenced by addressing a concern raised by players regarding the allocation of access codes for Preludes. There are instances where initial subscribers yet didn’t receive the selection, which seems to be an issue with the script, as it is programmed to prioritize earlier sign-ups. The developers are contemplating a solution for this, and also expressing hopes of distributing a larger quantity of codes for Prelude 9.
In the initial duration of the stream, the team clarified the operation of idols and abilities within the MMORPG, along with the modification they implemented for the game’s introduction. The introductory scenes were initially planned to be grouped at the start. However, considering it delayed the gameplay initiation they decided to spread out the content.
The developers noted an interesting observation that in dungeons, players seem to miss around 75%-80% of loot. They plan to amend the dispersal of these to rectify this issue. They also addressed feedback received from Prelude 8 to make several alterations. These changes include introducing a pathway choice for beginners, the incorporation of factions and small adventures similar to Warframe bounties, enhancements in combat, bringing forth new loot, and more.
In the later part of the stream, a Q&A session took place. Information about the expansion of the accessible island came to light here. It was revealed that the current accessibility is less than one third of the whole. Details regarding armors were also shared, disclosing that armors include stats, slots, and will eventually have a transmog option.
For players who find loot distribution perplexing, the developers are on it. A viewer asked about the requirement to pay for additional inventory slots. This led the developers to reveal that they are still undecided if players would need to purchase additional inventory slots. They emphasized their focus on enhancing the gameplay and keeping it enjoyable, leaving issues of monetization for later considerations.
