In just a couple of months, players of The First Descendant will have the chance to speed around on sleek hoverbikes while taking down hordes of enemies. This is the exciting promise showcased in the looter shooter’s latest trailer from Summer Game Fest, which offers a cinematic preview of the Breakthrough update. The update is set to launch on Thursday, August 7th.
Fans may recall that the features of this update were first unveiled at this year’s PAX East: The Breakthrough update will introduce the expansive new open map of Axion Plains, the highly anticipated hoverbikes, two additional playable characters, and a new sword weapon category, starting with a katana and later adding a laser sword and a two-handed sword.
Between now and August, Nexon plans to keep players engaged with a series of updates and events. Kicking things off is a YouTube livestream on Wednesday, June 11th, which will highlight the Breakthrough features and provide updates on plans for June and July.
Another showcase broadcast is scheduled for July 1st to celebrate the game’s first anniversary, offering even more details about Breakthrough. Then, on July 24th, players will have the opportunity to test out Axion Plains, the new Colossus Field Raid, and the hoverbike firsthand. In the meantime, players can pre-register for the patch to secure potential rewards, including their choice of an ultimate character if signups reach one million.
