SAG-AFTRA Lands Deals With Developers of 80 Games

Following the recent news about SAG-AFTRA’s inaugural agreement sealing with a video game company intending to safeguard voice actors from AI, the union is out with the bang again. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, SAG-AFTRA has made a series of deal signings with a number of game developers for either tiered-budget or provisional video game contracts.

Although major players like Activision Blizzard or EA haven’t signed yet, those that have are currently leading the development of approximately 80 games. Of these, Studio Wildcard, who is responsible for the development of ARK: Survival Evolved, is noted. GamesIndustry.biz further mentions two indie developers: one of them is busy crafting a debut game named Vampire Therapist.

It’s no shocker to see Studio Wildcard on the list, given their history of collaborations with TV and film actors and their ongoing tie-up with Vin Diesel for Ark 2. Although the other signees might not possess the same renown, it’s a significant stride towards the right direction. This is particularly because these developers can continue developing their games using SAG actors, a resource the more obstinate larger developers have yet to utilise.
