In a recent development, SAG-AFTRA launched a novel pact particularly devised for independent interactive localisation. This pact carries the same fundamental terms as those seen in the Tiered Budget Independent Interactive Media Agreement, with a distinctive focus on game localization hailing from non-English origins.
The Independent Interactive Localization Agreement remains in line with the tiered agreement, incorporating AI protective measures. It further brings additional opportunities for broader sessions and “principle and atmospheric roles” voiceprints. In accordance with the declaration, the deal structure is heavily influenced by feedback from professionals actively engaged in similar tasks.
Stated in the announcement, more than 130 game concepts are currently being developed under interim and independent deals. This new arrangement might amplify such statistics given that companies consent to the union’s conditions. Recent trends indicate that smaller indie firms could avail of the upgraded contract while dominant companies like Activision Blizzard, EA, WB Games, amongst others, may maintain their resistance, thereby leaving their users with games that either lack voiced content or are merely belated.
