RuneScape players will witness the resolution of one of the game’s longest-running narrative arcs this week, dating back to the MMORPG’s earliest days. The conclusion comes through a new quest titled “Eclipse of the Heart”, launching July 28th.
Jagex describes the Kharidian Desert as “a vast, merciless expanse rich with ancient lore and simmering conflicts,” promising players a dramatic finale to a story first introduced in the original 1999 DeviousMUD prototype that evolved into RuneScape Classic. To access this climactic chapter, adventurers must complete over 50 prerequisite quests and achieve Master Necromancer status.
The desert environment itself holds significant historical value for the franchise, appearing in both Andrew Gower’s prototype and the 2001 release of RuneScape Classic. This update marks the culmination of narrative threads woven through more than two decades of game history.
In related news, Jagex announced regional pricing adjustments for Bonds in several territories. While US and Eurozone prices remain unchanged, players in Australia, Canada, and the UK will see updated rates. The company also standardized Apple platform Bond pricing by reducing costs by $2 to match other platforms.
