Roblox’s Beetlejuice transmedia synergy merges a minigame with a movie ticket vendor

Roblox’s Beetlejuice combines a minigame with a movie ticket selling service for cross-media collaboration.

I have both good and bad news for you. On the bright side, I’ll certainly mention Beetlejuice three times in this piece, and as a result, the highly underrated Michael Keaton will make a surprise appearance and lightheartedly roast us. The downside, however, is an unfortunate collaboration between the franchise and Roblox, a platform wildly popular among children despite its questionable reputation of actively exploiting child labor.

A Roblox minigame titled Beetlejuice: Escape the Afterlife is on offer. Players are challenged to join forces to assist Adtrid, Lydia, and Delia in navigating the afterlife. As reported in the press release, the game isn’t just a marketing gimmick, but a channel for selling tickets for the upcoming movie too. Needless to say, nothing is too surprising anymore in our era.

“We always strive to interact with audiences and extend our reach in innovative, exciting ways; our unprecedented collaboration with Roblox and Fandango for Beetlejuice allows just that. By tapping into the expansive Roblox creator community, we can not only engage with longtime Beetlejuice fans, but also introduce him to new audiences. We’re thrilled to pioneer ticketing on the platform with this initiative.”

Oops, that was three, or actually four mentions of Beetlejuice. My apologies. Hopefully, the upcoming movie will be a delight, especially with Keaton onboard.
