RIFT To Receive First Major Patch Since 2022, Bringing Back Summerfest and New Updates on June 24

RIFT Set to Roll Out First Significant Patch Since 2022, Reviving Summerfest with New Updates on June 24

The long-standing fantasy MMORPG RIFT is poised to receive its first significant update in more than two years. Gamigo has scheduled a new patch for June 24, which represents the most significant change since May 2022. This development is unexpected for players who have become accustomed to the game’s maintenance mode with only minor bug fixes since the last sizeable update.

Launched initially by Trion Worlds in 2011, RIFT was a significant player in the MMO market, recognized for its flexible class structure and dynamic world events. Following Trion’s closure in 2018, Gamigo purchased the franchise and maintained the game online, albeit with sparse new content. However, the forthcoming update signifies a revised consideration, albeit a full-scale revival’s prospects still appear uncertain.

  • A return of the Summerfest event in July with season-specific activities and rewards
  • Launch of the new Riftbound Ursin mount
  • Re-establishment of four-hour minion missions
  • Inclusion of a new store banner
  • Client enhancements as part of the update

The current modifications aren’t expected to restore RIFT to its golden age, but they do indicate that the game continues to receive consideration from its present owners. For veterans, it’s a glimmer of hope in an MMO that has managed to surpass many of its contemporaries despite a smaller development team and limited updates. Ardent fans still harbor hopes for more noteworthy support in the future.
