PSO2 New Genesis Marks 13th Anniversary with Super Phantasy Festival

Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis is commemorating the 13th anniversary of the original Phantasy Star Online 2.

The Super Phantasy Festival kicks off next month, bringing a variety of limited-time quests, seasonal content, new weapons, cosmetics, and balance updates designed to engage both new and experienced players of the free-to-play MMORPG. A standout feature is the return of Lillipans, Ceremo Rappy variants, and the stylish NPC Xiandy.

Players can join seasonal quests to earn exclusive rewards such as SP Scratch Tickets, N-Augment Transfer Pass Vouchers, and unique titles. Cosmetic rewards will include outfits inspired by iconic characters from PSO2, such as Shiva and Luther, along with new emotes, accessories, and weapon camos like “Guide to the Annihilation.” Scratch tickets for these rewards will be obtainable through gameplay and event shops.

The narrative unfolds on August 6 with a new Mini Episode, delving deeper into character backstories, particularly the dynamics between Crawford and Glen, following the events involving Vael. Combat updates will feature a Waker class rework, integrating a new crest mechanic to refine Marmelo attacks, alongside balance adjustments for the Fighter and Gunner classes.

A fresh series of Leyend Weapons will also be introduced, delivering powerful debuffs to enemies that both reduce incoming damage and enhance player output. These weapons can evolve over time, while the upgraded 13-star Volgen series can be obtained and developed through limited-time content.

Line Strike, the in-game strategy card game, is unveiling its 6th wave of cards, featuring characters from Idola Phantasy Star Saga. The new Destiny Divergence cards can change forms mid-battle. New battle-related tasks will enable players to preview the “Crawford” card, and special summer-themed swimsuit cards will be available throughout August.

A number of Limited-time Quests are also set for August. “Drill: Cool Summer Dash” (August 6) and “Drill: Hot Summer Dash” (August 12) are solo floating board challenges featuring boss encounters and new obstacles. Additionally, “Massive Machine Assault” (August 20) is an 8-player co-op quest with random pathing, introducing a new boss (Ruine Granz) and new enemy types.
