WoW Classic players petition Blizzard to revert the server to its original state without any changes

Players of WoW Classic petition Blizzard to restore the server to its unchanged, original state.

A certain fraction of WoW Classic fans are not pleased with Blizzard’s management of the era servers till now. A Change.org petition has been circulating with near 2,500 signatures at present criticizing how the studio interfered with the perceived perfect MMORPG formula.

The petition initiated by streamer and YouTuber Kargoz according to Change.org press release encourages opposition against some of the recent permanent modifications made to WoW Classic – in particular the Warchief’s Blessing buff and Druids’ ability to use polearms. This is termed as “an outrageous violation of trust,” and it deals with issues like modern UI updates that led to a delay in the guild chat, termed as “unauthentic to original Vanilla WoW.”

“Vanilla WoW is undoubtedly one of the best games ever made. […] We the people demand Activision Blizzard honor the initial promise that was made to us, and immediately revert Vanilla WoW Classic Era back to its original design with no changes other than Chronoboon and never attempt to change Classic Era servers again.”

Besides angry reactions to these changes to Classic, the petition also includes some unfortunate pieces of cringe (or humor, depending on your perspective), particularly evident in the top supporter video posts that showcase exaggerated representations of real-life MMORPG enthusiasts. In the meantime, the petition’s arguments have created ripple effects within the WoW Classic community, resulting in forum threads calling for a “subtle changes” server for Classic, while others contemplating the proposed changes.

Other dialogues refute players who are “stuck in the past” or argue that the uproar is not as overwhelming as some pretend. A YouTuber named StaySafe has also been urging his followers to support the petition in response to the “shocking” alterations.
