Sea of Thieves outlines plans to temporarily remove features and address bugs plaguing Season 14

Plans to Temporarily Remove Features and Fix Bugs in Sea of Thieves’ Season 14 Outlined

The season of Making Mischief in Sea of Thieves has turned cause of annoyance for players and Rare Ltd. due to the launch of Season 14 update marred by countless bugs. Not much improvement has been observed since, leading to a video message from production director Drew Stevens addressing the issues and the future steps.

Stevens mentions the “extreme measures” underway, initially focusing on the overall game stability. The issues arising from crouching new features are specifically pointed out as they resulted in an invisibility exploit and the reinstatement of formerly removed exploits such as quick-switching weapons and midair control for players shot from a cannon.

Currently, crouching and disguises have been deactivated, but will be reinstated with a hotfix following the rectification of “high-impact issues” after the rigorous quality check of the patch; this update is expected to roll out next week.

A follow-up update scheduled for November aims to deliver more fixes, reintroduce features like traps and ledge hanging, along with experimental methods internally and with insiders’ testers in a bid to prevent a recurrence of such issues. As of now, the latest patch has repositioned the Chest of Fortune to its meant location.

“The launch of Season 14 left a lot to be desired,” Stevens announces in his video message. “I know I’ve addressed this before, and I understand you must be tired of hearing it, but we realize the need to up our game, and the launch of Season 14 clearly lacked quality control.”
