A High-Level Update is Coming to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis

Get ready, Arks! Sega’s free-to-play MMO, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, is kicking off September with a major content drop that’s all about high-level combat and new gear. The details were unveiled during the latest NGS Headline Wave broadcast, where series director Daiki Hamazaki shared the roadmap for the coming weeks.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s on the way:

Alter Realm Exploration: Combat Sectors (September 3)

The new combat sectors will make triggering PSE Bursts easier with guaranteed PSE gauge progression. Players will also face two new formidable bosses, High Rasetsu and High Val Zagga. The missions in this area will offer randomized player buffs to shake things up, and you can earn limited-time rewards like CAST parts and Augment Passes.

New 13-Star Weapons

Two new 13-star weapon lines are being introduced:

• Zenit Series: An upgrade to the existing Cres line, these weapons improve Photon Blast potency. Cres AT variants can also evolve into Zenit gear using Cres Cubes earned in the Alter Realm.
• Einden Series: This line upgrades Volgen weapons and adds a valuable passive HP regeneration effect.

Limited-Time Urgent Quest: “Resonant Twin Shadows Shake the Wetlands” (September 17)

This new urgent quest will challenge players to defeat Ruine Gryphon and Ruine Angel simultaneously, as they will revive each other if one is left standing. To make things even more difficult, the encounter will feature tornado hazards and enemy clones. Players who complete the quest can earn cosmetic accessories like Mini Devil Wings and Gothic Claws.

Leciel Exploration Refresh

The Leciel Exploration area is getting a refresh with higher enemy levels and two new bosses: Ruine Angele and Ruine Granz. You’ll also find two new player buffs, including a temporary Mobile Cannon ALR Photon Blast and a high-risk, high-reward PA/Technique damage boost that consumes your HP. Additionally, a new augment capsule, C/Lois Halphinale, will be craftable at the Item Lab.

These new additions are a great opportunity for players to test out their maxed-out builds, collect fresh cosmetics, and get ready for the upcoming story arc and even more 13-star gear tiers planned for the autumn roadmap.
