Overwatch Classic comes to Overwatch 2 ‘for a limited time’ starting tomorrow

Overwatch Classic will be available in Overwatch 2 ‘for a limited time’ beginning tomorrow

Players of Overwatch who remain nostalgic for the original edition and are displeased by the mandatory shift to Overwatch 2 will be offered a sort of compromise option. Blizzard has declared the upcoming introduction of an “Overwatch Classic” mode to Overwatch 2, commencing on Tuesday, November 12th, albeit for a limited period.

Blizzard has promised to reintroduce this mode in the future, likely with minor modifications. The company states that during the inaugural Overwatch Classic event, they will bring gameplay elements from the 1.0 release version of May 2016, inclusive of many abilities unseen in recent years and accounting for the original chaotic gameplay of the period.

This extraordinary event will feature all 21 original heroes and the 6v6 mode, and is set to run until December 2nd. Blizzard has clarified that the reprised event won’t extend to the original UI, loot boxes, or competitive mode, and that the Overwatch Classic mode “is distinct from [their] wider 6v6 plans” for Overwatch 2.
