Ever wished your game had producer’s letters? Well, Overwatch 2 goes a step further – it features director’s takes! Consider it something similar, but with a touch of Hollywood. In its latest iteration, the game brings forth the director’s perspective on the “next steps” transition as the team shooter gears up for Season 14.
The focus primarily revolves around alterations to the 6v6 and 5v5 formats, which are anticipated to undergo modifications in the coming months. Overwatch 2 envisages accommodating a wider variety of role combinations for 6v6 whilst experimenting with “two format variants” for 5v5 – a more adaptable Quick Play: Hacked mode, and a unique Kingmaker mode. In fact, the studio is even considering to keep both 5v5 and 6v6 operational incessantly.
“The purpose of these format trials is to explore ways to enhance the game’s core. Every day, millions of players engage in the 5v5 framework, and we simply cannot afford a negative repercussion. The exhilarating part about these experiments is the prospect of appealing to a new group of players, particularly those who might have had reservations regarding the shift to 5v5 at the launch of Overwatch 2,” stated Blizzard.
