This week marks the start of another new season in Overwatch 2, bringing a host of fresh updates to the game as players once again engage in epic battles between superheroes.
Season 17 introduces several major updates, focusing on the Stadium mode. The roster will expand with three new characters over the course of the season, alongside two popular maps returning with mode-specific adjustments. Additionally, a rank reset will take place, and the new Stadium Forge feature will allow players to test and share team compositions.
Players will also have the opportunity to voice their opinions through map voting in both quick play and competitive modes. The new Aatlis map for Flashpoint mode transports players to the streets of a futuristic Morocco, designed for tighter battles, smoother rotations, and fast-paced action. Whether it becomes a fan favorite or is voted into obscurity remains to be seen.
Two new mini-events will also debut during the season: From June 24th to 30th, the Powered Up event will reward players with four free epic lockboxes for completing 17 matches. Later, between July 15th and 28th, the Hacks & Hijinx event will introduce a limited-time mode featuring rotating match modifiers every round.
