The Ultima Online team has just completed its fifth testing weekend of the New Legacy mode, which is set to launch next month, marking four years of hard work.
A few weeks back, as we highlighted, Broadsword continued to add fresh content during each phase of the open beta. This included the unique “divergent path” feature that essentially diverts the leveling process from its usual course. The past two weekends have seen further enhancements.
Based on the continuously updated dev diaries, Broadsword has incorporated town objectives for artisans, fine-tuned mining, increased gold rewards from guild objectives, and kept tweaking skill gains. The most recent entry noted reduced drop durability, added durability loss on death, removed the loot timer on PvP corpses, leveled the bosses, and sustained the work on crafter content.
“Our overarching objective with crafting is to let crafters engage with the core crafting activities without an excessively harsh resource grind. Thus, we’ve adjusted the Ore-to-Ingot ratio – miners will now gather 10 ingots not 2. Moreover, pickaxes and shovels are now free of any charge constraints. Unlimited metal for everyone!”
No need to fret about tamer pets either. Broadsword reassures, “Ahead of the shard going live, tamable creatures will undergo a balance pass. We acknowledge that currently there’s a discrepancy in the ability of rangers to compete in certain high-density spawn areas. We plan to rectify this in an upcoming update. Catapults? Trebuchets? Just jesting…”
