NCsoft responds to persistent and damaging DDoS attacks on Lineage II and Blade & Soul NEO

It’s been a challenging week for NCsoft’s games, as the MMORPG giant has faced severe DDoS attacks targeting its infrastructure and titles. While the company is offering compensation to players affected by the disruptions, NCsoft has also emphasized its commitment to combating these criminal attacks.

NC America CEO Jeonghee Jin reassured players that the studio is doing everything possible. Jin stated, “Over the past couple of weeks, two of NC America’s flagship games, Blade & Soul NEO and Lineage II, have been hit by extremely severe DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks, the largest our company has ever faced. These attacks are a form of corporate espionage. They’ve been relentless and destructive. Each time we identify and neutralize an attack, the anonymous perpetrators alter their methods, forcing us to start over.”

Jin acknowledged that these DDoS attacks have also impacted other studios and pledged to “work tirelessly” to mitigate the attacks and enhance security measures. “This is a crime, and we’re treating the situation with the utmost seriousness,” he said.
