For those who love the musical ambiance of Star Citizen, look forward to brand-new soundtracks hoping to debut with the alpha 4.0 edition, expected by the end of this year. With the introduction of a new star system, fresh music is lined up, as discussed in the game’s latest vlog.

In this video, Pedro Macedo Camacho, the composer, gets candid from the fancy CIG’s video set about his inspirations, his passion for music, and the vibe he aims to infuse in the music being curated for alpha 4.0.

From capturing the “dreamy” and “intrepid” experiences of a jump point, the ominous feeling of descending into Pyro 1, to balancing the serene with the ominous on Pyro 3’s surface, Camacho shares his sentiments. The video includes snippets of the music.

Old hands at MMORPG gaming would recall that Star Citizen was originally funded over $2M through Kickstarter in 2012 with a planned release in 2014. Though, as of 2024, it’s yet to be fully completed, it remains active in an alpha stage, with a fundraising exceeding $700M collected over several years through crowdfunding, in-game ship sales, and other in-game assets. Marketed as the most funded video game to date, it’s been met with both stubborn support from enthusiasts and intense doubt from critics. Its sister single-player game, Squadron 42, has seen multiple delays too.
