Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Brings Ultron, Hellfire Gala Map, and a Team-Up System Overhaul

The action heats up in Marvel Rivals as Season 2.5 arrives, introducing Ultron as the latest playable Strategist, a sleek new battleground, major balance changes, and an overhauled Team-Up system that reshapes how heroes interact on the battlefield.

Ultron makes a powerful entrance armed with energy attacks, overhealth shields, flight, and healing drones. His ultimate ability sends out support bots that restore allies’ health while damaging enemies—perfect for turning the tide mid-match. Players can now take the fight to Hellfire Gala: Arakko, a visually stunning new map set on Krakoa’s sister island, now twisted into Ultron’s cybernetic domain.

Marvel Rivals Updates Team-Ups and Hero Balance

Season 2.5 delivers one of the most significant updates to Marvel Rivals’ Team-Up system to date. Six fresh pairings are introduced, including:

• Ultron + Iron Man – “Stark Protocol”

• Venom + Jeff – “Symbiote Shenanigans”

• Rocket Raccoon + Peni Parker – “Rocket Network”

• Jeff + Storm – “Jeff-Nado”

Meanwhile, four Team-Ups have been removed from rotation, including “Chilling Charisma” and “Ammo Reload”—the latter still usable by Winter Soldier. Iron Man also exits the “Gamma Charge” combo, which is now exclusive to Hulk and Namor.

Character balance gets some attention, too. Doctor Strange and Storm receive buffs to enhance their effectiveness, while nerfs hit Groot and Psylocke to dial back their dominance. Additional tweaks to Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark aim to fine-tune their mechanics and overall impact in matches.

Fans of solo content will have something to look forward to on June 6 with the launch of Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol, an experimental mode where players can tailor hero lineups and builds for more strategic solo play.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 goes live May 30, ushering in a new seasonal model: each season will now last two months and begin immediately after the conclusion of the Season 0 Battle Pass.
