MapleStory Compensates Players Following 35-Hour Maintenance

MapleStory has returned to service after undergoing over 35 hours of maintenance due to the v.260 update, and the developers have provided an update.

The extended downtime caught many players of the free-to-play MMORPG off guard and was understandably frustrating. This disruption stemmed from the identification of critical issues related to the duplication of meso and items. The developers have assured players that they are handling the matter with utmost seriousness and have commenced issuing penalties for those who attempted to exploit the game.

To date, 228 accounts have been permanently banned for utilizing meso and item duplication glitches, and all duplicated items are being eradicated. Furthermore, 233 accounts received temporary bans for continually exploiting boss fights and content related to the Demon Slayer that breached the Terms of Service. The duration of each ban has been determined by the severity of the exploitations, and all compromised items are being removed. The investigation is ongoing, with potential further actions in prospect.

As a gesture of goodwill, compensation is being provided, consistent with tradition. The package includes 20 Special Medals of Honor, 5 Trait Boost Potions, 10 Experience Nodestones, 3 VIP Buff Selector Coupons, 2 Magnificent Growth Potions, 3 Luxe Sauna Coupons, 10 4x EXP Coupons (for 30 minutes), and 3 Sol Erda/Sol Erda Fragment Selector Coupons. Most of these items carry a 7-day duration or are untradable.
