Mabinogi Mobile Hits $200M+ in Korea, Becoming a Phenomenon

It appears Nexon has struck gold. Mabinogi Mobile, launched in South Korea just over seven months ago, has not only sustained its initial success but has become a player phenomenon. Boasting over 3.6 million downloads in Asian countries alone and dominating mobile store charts, the game proves that profitability doesn’t necessitate a “pay-to-win” model.

Nexon reports that in addition to the impressive download numbers, Mabinogi Mobile has already generated over 3 trillion won (approximately $215 million USD) in accumulated revenue, doubling its earnings from the launch period. This growth accelerated following the “Paladin” update in September, which resulted in a revenue increase of over 200% and a 40% expansion of both its new and returning player base. This performance propelled the game to the top of active user and sales rankings within major mobile app stores, cementing its position as a leading RPG title for the month.

Player retention rates are also remarkably high: 61% return on the first day and 42% remaining active after two weeks, figures rarely seen even with established games. Nexon credits this success to its focus on cooperation and socialization, rather than purely competitive gameplay, combined with a more accessible and less aggressive monetization system. With a predominantly young and dedicated player base, the company is now preparing for the title’s global expansion, planning to introduce the “Mabinogi” universe to new markets in 2026.
