Prepare for a dose of pure adorableness! Knights Peak and Windup Games are bringing us Hela, and I’m already obsessed. What’s the catch? You play as a mouse!
According to the developers, Hela is “an enchanting 3D co-op adventure game” that lets players “see the world through the eyes of a brave mouse.” The game tasks you with exploring “breathtaking Scandinavian-inspired landscapes, sol[ving] puzzles, and [being] a force for good in a land where heartwarming storytelling and the beauty of nature intertwine.” The premise? A kind witch is ill, and her tiny familiar must gather ingredients for a potion to restore her. Hela can be played solo or in local split-screen or online co-op with friends, traversing “lush, vibrant vistas together, from rugged mountains trails, through magical forests, to tranquil lakes.”
This week’s announcement came with a trailer showing off the game’s premise and some Grounded-esque gameplay. As promised, it looks to have a multiplayer co-op component, with up to four players being able to take control of adorable mice to work together. Check out the trailer below, and keep an eye out as Hela is expected to launch on PC and console sometime next year.
