Blizzard’s popular digital card game, Hearthstone, is delving into time travel with its new expansion, “Across the Timeways,” launching on November 4th. This expansion features 145 new cards and introduces two fresh mechanics: Rewind and Fabled. Players will see familiar Warcraft characters from different eras, enhancing the game’s dynamic and unpredictable nature.
This release directly responds to player feedback, focusing on increased control over random effects and innovative deck-building strategies using auto-included cards. The story revolves around Chromie, a Bronze Dragonflight chronomancer, who recruits heroes from alternate timelines to thwart Murozond, her future boss-turned-villain.
- Rewind: Allows players to replay cards with random outcomes, providing a second chance if the initial effect is unfavorable.
- Free Rewind Cards: Mister Clocksworth, Portal Vanguard, and Semi-Stable Portal will be available as free rewards through login bonuses, the in-game shop, and a future event.
- Fabled Cards: These cards include a pair of Legendary companions that are automatically added to your deck, influencing deck construction. Each class receives a Fabled Legendary, such as a pre-Scourge Sylvanas accompanied by her sisters Alleria and Vereesa.
- Other Time-Bending Cards: Examples include Timeway Warden, which temporarily removes an enemy minion from play for 10,000 turns, and Divergence, a spell that duplicates a minion in your hand.
- Pre-Purchase Options: Available until the expansion’s release, these options range from a 60-pack bundle to an 80-pack bundle with cosmetic items like a Chromie mage skin. Purchasing both unlocks the “Sequence” bundle, which contains a Diamond version of Timelord Nozdormu.
Blizzard typically releases three major Hearthstone expansions each year, significantly impacting the competitive meta. For a glimpse at the newly revealed cards, check out the official announcement post.
