“Flashpoint Resurgence” Update for Star Wars: The Old Republic Launching in Late August

The next update, Game Update 7.7.1, for BioWare’s established MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, named Flashpoint Resurgence, is scheduled for late August. The aim is to modernize the 2011 game and provide both existing subscribers and free users with new motives to play.

Main features include the beginning of Galactic Season 9, visual enhancements to character creation, and several items influenced by the Disney+ Andor series. The restrictions on free and preferred accounts have been eased in the patch, possibly to facilitate returning players before the launch of the next story arc in Update 7.8.

  • Galactic Season 9 – “Flashpoint Resurgence”: The 26-week season revolves around testing a fresh set of Czerka Combat Enhancers provided by vendor Kai Zykken. There are two new buffs available inside Flashpoints.
  • Season 9 rewards: New titles, retractable themed weapons, Commandant’s and Ascendant Admiral armor sets, and five mounts.
  • Overhaul of Character Select: With improved lighting, enhanced depth-of-field focus on the character, and expanded face-definition for the Rattataki species. New hair and montral color options are introduced for multiple species like Cathar, Chiss, Cyborg, Human, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta, and Zabrak.
  • Andor cosmetics: A hairstyle, head accessory, outfit, and an Imperial Scout mount will be available in the Cartel Market. An Andor-inspired companion customization for droids 2V-R8 and C2-N2 can be unlocked with a limited-time login currency .
  • Free-to-play Quality-of-Life Improvements: Companion customizations, Legacy titles, Rest XP, the first Cargo Bay, the Hide Head slot, broader escrow withdrawals, and unrestricted quickbar access are now available without a subscription.
  • Upcoming: The next storytelling chapter, “Galactic Threads,” anticipated in Update 7.8, followed by “Master’s Enigma” in Update 7.8.1.

Star Wars: The Old Republic adopted a mixed free-to-play model in 2012 and has been sustaining its community with seasonal content and cosmetic collaborations. The visual improvements and more accessible F2P rules in update 7.7.1 demonstrate BioWare’s ongoing effort to update the decade-old MMO to modern standards.
