In a recent update, DECA Games, accompanied by Community Manager Counselor Sunna, officially made their greeting to the Star Trek Online community through formal posts on the MMORPG‘s website. Although these posts didn’t unravel any groundbreaking news other than their enthusiastic attitude towards working on the MMO, it did at least act as a formal introduction (at last) and the announcement of an impending livestream to discuss future plans.
DECA, following their takeover from Cryptic, mentioned their plans to create new content for Star Trek Online players, including fresh episodes launching today with ‘Unveiled’ on PC. Although DECA refers to this as “their first episode,” it is likely a combined effort with the previous Cryptic team given that some staff were retained for the transition phase and content development generally happens well ahead of time.
In ‘Unveiled’, STO players launch into novel adventures and encounters with the concept of “Harmony.” These exciting events include a new assault on the Ram Izad system driven by a brutal new Borg, represented by Jonathan Del Arco reprising his role as Hugh, the cooperative Borg leader. The storyline will see players answer a distress call alongside Hugh and other recognizable characters as they seek answers about Thaseen-Fei’s impaired ship, the Harmony.
Despite the thrilling new episode, the MMORPG is also making preparations to commemorate its 15th anniversary with specific content released for completion and the chance to gain rewards such as a T6 Garret Command Alliance Dreadnought Cruiser. Readers should also keep an eye on the anniversary plans as STO is planning a new ship package inspired by the original six films, starting with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. More information is expected when ‘Unveiled’ becomes available on consoles.
Just as a reminder, the release date for ‘Unveiled’ on consoles is set for March 11th.
