Final Fantasy 14 é confirmado no Mobile, mas apenas na China

Final Fantasy 14 Confirmed for Mobile, Exclusive to China

Following weeks of speculation and leaks, Square Enix has officially partnered with Tencent Games to announce Final Fantasy XIV Mobile. The reveal took place at the FF14 Eorzean Symphony concert in Guangzhou, China.

The collaboration between Square Enix and Tencent started in 2018 and ramped up in 2021 when then-president of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, mentioned ongoing collaborations with the Chinese giant.

Final Fantasy XIV, originally released in 2010 and re-launched as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013, is celebrated for its expansive world of Eorzea, compelling missions, charismatic characters and the ability to level up characters through battles, crafting and exploration.

A New Journey on Mobile

The mobile version announcement, provisionally dubbed Final Fantasy: Crystal World, promises to bring all the grandeur of the Final Fantasy XIV universe to players’ palms.

Even though previous franchise adaptations for mobile devices have had mixed performance, there are high expectations that this new version could revitalize the series on mobile platforms.

Despite the excitement, there are still uncertainties about the monetization model to be adopted for the mobile version. Square Enix and Tencent have not shared any details about the subscription system or whether there will be in-app purchases, but the community is eager to see how the experience will be adapted for smartphones.

In addition, considering the game’s scope, we might have a new “benchmark game” on mobile, like what happened with Genshin Impact and Warzone Mobile. In other words, FF XIV Mobile promises to be quite heavy!

Expansion to Other Regions

As of now, the launch of Final Fantasy: Crystal World is confirmed only for the Chinese market, which rules out questions about possible expansion to other regions.

What to Expect?

With a dedicated fan base and a history of success on major platforms, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile has the potential to become one of the big titles in the mobile gaming marketplace. The collaboration between Square Enix and Tencent merges both companies’ expertise, which can result in a high-quality product.
