Fawkes’ MMO Defiance Addresses Events and Exploits Five Months Post-Relaunch

It’s hard to imagine five months have already passed since Fawkes Games, backed by Gamigo, resurrected Trion Worlds’ sci-fi MMO Defiance. Yet the timeline speaks for itself—and the studio is marking the occasion by highlighting milestones while charting its roadmap ahead.

Over the past half-year, Fawkes has delivered all five original DLC packs at no cost, optimized server performance, revamped event rotations, and deployed anti-cheat measures—though the latter sparked debate after blocking 32-bit users.

The studio revealed that rebuilding the event framework proved especially complex. The original game relied on Trion’s proprietary “Karma” backend system, which Fawkes cannot access. Rather than reconstructing Karma, developers opted to manually curate event rewards. With the system now functional, Fawkes plans to launch the Hulker’s Hell event in October, followed by remaining events through 2025.
