MMORPGs often celebrate their anniversaries with free player rewards, but The Elder Scrolls Online is taking a different approach. Despite marking its 10th anniversary in April 2025, ZeniMax Online Studios has launched a paid Anniversary Pack this July. The studio, still navigating fallout from layoffs tied to the canceled Project Blackbird (detailed here), frames this as an extension of the celebration.
“The Elder Scrolls Online’s 10-Year Anniversary has come and gone, but who says we can’t keep the party going?” reads ZeniMax’s announcement. The $10 bundle includes an exclusive costume, a spectral Wisp pet, festive fireworks décor, and 1,000 Crowns. While priced lower than standard Crown packs (normally $15 for 1,500), the move highlights Zenimax’s monetization strategy—especially as other studios like Blizzard (now under Microsoft) adopt similar tactics, albeit with pricier offerings.
On the gameplay front, ESO has also begun its “Scribing for All” Golden Pursuits event, rewarding players for engaging with the newly base-game Scribing system. Completing 26 in-game activities unlocks unique prizes. Notably, free-to-access Scribing requires players to reach Level 30 and claim the quest via the Crown Store—details outlined in ZeniMax’s guide.
