Earthen Allied Race Delayed in World of Warcraft Due to Bugs

Of late, I’ve committed a good deal of time playing World of Warcraft. Indeed, I invested in obtaining early access to The War Within, the admired MMORPG‘s fresh expansion. Let’s momentarily disregard the controversial pricing and early access circumstances and delve into the gaming experience and the recent delay.

Firstly, The War Within welcomes users with an abundance of pleasing elements. While it is common to experience an initial “honeymoon” phase with a freshly launched expansion, the recent updates in the Warband package have undeniably won my approval and are without a doubt my most favored feature of the new expansion.

The opportunity to accelerate the level-ups of alternate characters up to 25% faster (relative to the number of level-capped characters you possess) is phenomenal. The convenience of sharing a Warband bank, achievements, currencies, and reputations is unparalleled, and the new dungeons have exceeded my expectations. The chance to transfer Warband-bound gear to alternates is also a splendid addition.

I anticipate exploring the raiding options, as these usually dictate the extent to which I play an expansion, measured by the enjoyment of the raid’s environment and the story it tells.

As someone who is not an ardent player of the alternate characters, I have to say I have been drawn into crafting and revisiting multiple characters, with plans to engage with a fourth character tonight. I must admit, these new elements have caught my favor.

However, not everything is perfect. It’s difficult to ignore the consistent glitches that I’ve encountered throughout the game, making this potentially one of the most problematic expansions I’ve come across in World of Warcraft. Even after discarding the issues that tend to plaque games in early access, I experienced hindrances in the achievement of quests even days after launch due to a series of game bugs. And I wasn’t the only one.

As anticipated, the final segment of the campaign which introduces the Earthen Allied Race was meant to make its appearance today. And indeed, it did show up briefly.

However, the ensuing complications led to the game patch being temporarily removed by the team for the resolution of a “priority issue.” Details are scarce. From the multitude of responses to the announcement, I can infer there might have been non-functional quests. The patch was reinstated a few hours later, although there is no assurance of its stability.

I’m unsure why the team is keeping matters somewhat mysterious at this point.

Although I am prepared for occasional glitches, it’s incredibly frustrating to see that main quests are still malfunctioning a week post-launch. Precisely, it raises questions about whether Blizzard was justified in reducing their Quality Assurance workforce.

I look forward to sharing more insights on this expansion as Season 1 is set to launch on the 10th and the arrival of Mythics is anticipated shortly.
