Stop looking at me like that. Duckside is indeed a real game, far from a MJ-produced hallucination, and it’s brought to you by tinyBuild, a renowned game studio you’re familiar with. Skeptical? Go ahead, verify it: It launched on Steam early access today, priced at $14.99 (currently discounted to under $10). And yes, the main gimmick here is that you get to play as a duck.
In DUCKSIDE, you’ll contend with both avian and non-avian adversaries while collecting loot and resources to establish a base and undertake missions across a vast archipelago, all alone or with a flock. Be mindful of other ducks who might be keen on swiping your items right from under your bill, so guard your turf! Construct and bolster a mega base, join forces with friends in hunting, or merely poach from other ducks. Ready yourself (your wing, to be precise) for a battle against humans to complete tasks and secure precious and rare loot. The opportunities are limitless in this persistent survival shooter world teeming with ducks, firearms, emergent gameplay, and relentless quacking.
As per TinyBuild, the early access release introduces fresh biomes for the ducks, updated animations, new arms (chainsaws, jackhammers, molotovs, and bazookas for ducks), water supply systems, server rental options, and dynamic non-feathered character behavior or NPC behavior. It isn’t a fabrication — “non-plumed characters”. The goal is to expand on its three (!) beta versions and maintain early access for about a year.
