To be honest, I am not a big fan of military or combat aircrafts, so when I first saw the press announcement from the War Thunder crew stating they were “adding dragons”, I was taken aback. Momentarily, my thought process shifted from the announcement to imagining the sight of a flying dragon engaging in battle in the strategy game .
Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
But no, War Thunder is not introducing actual dragons, unfortunately. Instead, they are rolling out the Chinese-designed “dragons”, the J-10 and JF-17 fighters in September. The update is aptly named the “Dance of Dragons.” The JF-17 was designed by China for the Pakistani Air Force and we will also see the introduction of the Al-Khalid-I tank, also designed and used by China and Pakistan. The J-10, still operational in China, it reaches near Mach 2 speed at high altitude, and features a distinctively large tail for improved high-speed maneuverability.
For maritime enthusiasts, the French Coastal Fleet is undergoing beta testing and will be deployed soon with the VTB-8, VTB-9, and VTB-11 vessels. The interesting Vedette-type 40K, observed under three different flags, will also be setting sail.
No additional details are available on the War Thunder site at the moment, but a post is expected soon. Until then, here’s the trailer featuring the dragons.
