Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline has been released as a paid game in Japan. Initially launched for Wii and Wii U in 2012 as an online game, this is now a paid offline game priced at 1.960 yen (about $18). For now, the release is exclusive to Japan.
Published by Square Enix and developed by B.B. Studio, the game brings back the adventure originally released in 2012, but as an offline game.
Pricing and Launch Promotion
The game is available on the App Store and Google Play at a promotional price of 1,960 yen (about $18), valid until 28th January 2025. After this date, the price increases to 2,800 yen (approximately $25). The expansion follows the same promotional scheme, costing 1,920 yen during the initial period.
About Dragon Quest X Offline
The title is a reformed version of MMORPG Dragon Quest X Online, with updated graphics and a gameplay balance crafted for a solo experience. Set in the expansive world of Astoltia, the player embarks on an epic adventure to save the five continents and their tribes from a demonic threat.
Highlight Regions:
- Ogreed: Snowy mountain lands and home to the Ogres, the fire people.
- Wena Islands: Tropical islands inhabited by the Wetlings, the water people.
- Eltona: Land of the Elves and the sacred World Tree.
- Puku Land: Green plains inhabited by the Poppets, the flower people.
- Dwachakka: Region of deserts and ancient ruins, home to the Dwarves, the earth people.
The expansion, The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally, brings new maps, such as Rendashia, and exciting features such as a flying dragon for exploration.

Gameplay and Features
Dragon Quest X Offline keeps the classic turn-based battles, with new characters and unique skills:
- Maille: A kind-hearted Ogre.
- Ragus: A introverted young prince.
- Fuura: A girl seeking redemption after losing her mother.
- Fuser: A solitary swordsman.
- Dasuton: A junk-loving eccentric.
The campaign also offers puzzles and dungeons for exploration and mystery fans.
Available for other platforms
Before arriving on mobile devices, Dragon Quest X Offline was released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Japan in 2022. The title made it to Asia in May 2024, but there is no announcement yet for a global launch.
