We are excited to bring you another compilation of MMOs and online multiplayer games that likely slipped under your radar!
Tidal Nexus Online: We stumbled upon this aquatic-themed MMO-lite after spotting a single Reddit post. It’s described as a 2008 browser game offshoot called Deepolis. It is currently featured on Steam by Studio Riptide Interactive, asking for test access with no fixed release date. The main site announces that the third phase of playtesting will commence “soon.”
Kaetram – We’ve highlighted Kaetram previously in our lists; a 2D open-source MMO sourced from a browser game known as BrowserQuest. The game recently introduced a rigorous ironman mode. It continues to be labeled as beta on the official web page and early access on Steam, receiving mostly positive feedback so far.
IMAGINE – Lastly, IMAGINE is an MMO originating from the Shin Megami Tensei series, directly from the RPG, SMT NINE. As traced by RPGsite, the game was passed between studios before it was closed in 2013 after six years of online activity. The final global server went offline in 2016. However, the game has seen a revival through fan-hosted servers. We covered one such endeavor in our 2022 article about a rogue server’s legal troubles. A group launched a server called New Moon last year, purporting to have an unofficial license, thus continuing the game’s legacy.
