Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Early Access Begins, Game Nearly Hits Covid Era Peak Playerbase

Dawntrail Expansion Leads Final Fantasy XIV to Reach New Peak in Concurrent Playerbase

Although we informed that Final Fantasy XIV‘s recent expansion couldn’t reach the peak concurrent player record from November 2021 of 95,102 on Steam, a new all-time high was recorded across all platforms, as reported by the Game Director Naoki Yoshida. As he cited on July 4th, “Thanks to your support, the number of concurrent users has hit a record high, unseen since the launch of A Realm Reborn in 2013.” A significant influx of new players due to the game’s Xbox debut could be a plausible reason for this new concurrent player peak.

However, the launch of Dawntrail didn’t go without problems. The expansion currently has ‘mixed‘ reviews on Steam. Apart from a few grievances about the narrative, players are expressing dissatisfaction over some class balancing issues. These concerns have been addressed by the developers, who plan on addressing them in updates 7.01 and 7.05.
