Blizzard Announces Overwatch 2 DirectX 12 Beta Test for Eligible Gear Users

As per a statement on the shooter’s website, Overwatch 2 now includes DirectX 12, provided by Blizzard. Rather than substituting DirectX 11, the addition of DX12 serves an optional feature for gamers, with DX11 remaining as the primary API. The intention behind this addition is to make the most of the latest GPU innovations, therefore enhancing the players’ gaming experience.

However, there are certain prerequisites for those aiming to utilise DirectX 12 in Overwatch 2. The specific requirements include having a DirectX 12-compatible video card and Windows 10 Version 1909 or an upgraded version. Players must also bear in mind that the venture into DirectX 12 may not be flawless, as the post indicates possibilities of in-game stuttering. Additionally, there is a probability that DX12’s performance may not match up to that of DX11 for some players.
