ArcheAge Chronicles: The Next MMORPG Evolution, Launching in 2025

The sequel of ArcheAge no longer goes by “ArcheAge 2.” In the recent Sony State of Play event, it was announced that the upcoming MMORPG from XL Games and Kakao Games has been officially titled ArcheAge Chronicles.

Through a video demonstration, ArcheAge Chronicles flaunted its appealing visuals, courtesy of Unreal Engine 5. The game is categorized as an “online action RPG” as opposed to an “MMO,” echoing the recent trend seen in games like New World. Albeit this, ArcheAge Chronicles will retain classic MMO elements including a persistent world, player housing, a player-centric economy, a rich narrative, and social interactivity.

Jake Song, CEO of XLGAMES, expressed immense enthusiasm about the reveal of ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’, stating “It’s an embodiment of our ambition to fuse the wide-ranging, immersive aspects of an MMO with the dynamic, engaging gameplay of an Online Action RPG. We are eagerly anticipating players’ exploration of the upcoming chapter in the ArcheAge universe.”

Scheduled to launch in 2025, ArcheAge Chronicles will be available on PC (Steam and Epic Games), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Further information regarding specific features and beta testing is soon to be released. Interestingly, the game’s Steam page doesn’t include an “F2P” tag. Does this suggest that unlike its predecessor, ArcheAge Chronicles will not be free? One thing is certain as stated on the Steam page, Chronicles is planned to be the “next evolution of the MMORPG genre.” Well, I guess we will see about that. Right?
