Aion Launches “Ascend” Server for a Fresh Take on Classic Gameplay

Aion is introducing a new “Ascend” server on August 19, designed to provide a more streamlined experience for both newcomers and returning fans.

This server merges elements from Korea’s Wind, Lumi, and X servers, offering faster progression, simpler gear upgrades, and an enhanced quality-of-life experience for players of the free-to-play MMORPG. Additionally, the Classic 4.0 Part 2 Update will roll out for existing servers, increasing the level cap to 70 and introducing new dungeons, raids, and loot options.

Set within a Classic framework, Ascend is adapted to modern gameplay preferences. Players can now start flying from Level 1, equip most gear at early levels, and enjoy significantly accelerated leveling (XP x4), doubling of dungeon rewards (2x), and improved item enhancement success rates. The focus is primarily on Kinah-based progression; from purchasing PvP gear to obtaining Enchantment and Manastones, most growth paths depend on Kinah earned through gameplay rather than from the shop.

The server is designed to eliminate grind-heavy obstacles: essential skills are auto-acquired, quests are simplified and more rewarding, and teleportation options allow for easy navigation. PvP-centric gear lines — such as Combat Officer and Commander — can now be easily purchased with Kinah, while enhancements are accessible through local vendors and the traveling Peddler Shugo.

At the maximum level, players can participate in weekly Fortress Battles and Raids, with successful players earning millions of Kinah and high-quality gear. Additional Kinah can be earned through quests like the “Golden Wind” series, battlefield engagement, and trading in Abyss Points. Even equipment that is no longer needed can now be sold for Kinah.
