According to Wikipedia, a group of executives acquired the trademark and are relaunching Acclaim as an indie publisher. The Wikipedia entry also suggests they might acquire former Acclaim intellectual properties.
The current unknown is what kind of games they will be developing or publishing. Acclaim’s bankruptcy predates the surge in popularity of free-to-play, live-service games. However, this business model is now a major focus for many companies. As a publisher, Acclaim has the potential to maintain a more diverse portfolio than a purely development-focused company.
