Till now, the only chance to enjoy Monster Hunter on your handheld device is through Niantic’s mobile ARG Monster Hunter Now. But that’s about to change as Capcom and Tencent’s company TiMi Group announced Monster Hunter Outlanders, a brand new mobile game trying to provide a more familiar open world hunting experience on mobiles without the need to go outside to find creatures in your nearby environment. However, it would be wise to get some sunshine when feasible or opt for vitamin D supplements.
Described as an “open world survival game”, Outlanders allows up to four players to freely roam a large map, create their own gear and tools, and participate in a hunting experience recognizable to series veterans. The press announcement also mentions “all-new character collection,” hinting at possible gacha monetization, however, details are scarce at this point. The only information being released right now is a series of Twitter teasers as fans share the teaser trailer online.
This does not indicate that Monster Hunter Now is getting replaced. On the contrary, the company has released a tentative roadmap for its next two seasons. Season 4 is scheduled for December with new monsters, a new habitat, fresh weapon types, and an updated loadout feature. The Season 5 unveiling is planned for Spring 2025, with more details to be revealed later.
