MMORPG Project Gorgon Drops Initial Box Price and Introduces Optional Bundles for Character Slots in Early Access

The box price of Project Gorgon, which might have previously deterred buyers, has been permanently reduced by Elder Game to encourage an increase in game purchases. This independent MMORPG inspired by medieval fantasy launched in early access in 2018 with an original price of $39.99, but can now be bought on Steam for only $19.99.

However, there is a catch. Players who buy the game at this lower price will only receive one character slot. An additional three character slots can be bought separately for $19.99. Those who already own the game or subscribe monthly will receive these extra slots for free.

This modification in price and the character slot bundle are part of the small studio’s strategies to generate a higher income and increase interest in their game, at a time where they’re experiencing financial struggles. Despite the studio’s self-funding of the game, financial difficulties have risen following the cancer diagnosis of the founder’s wife and co-developer. However, generous players have provided significant donations, although this source is expected to deplete eventually, leading to the change in pricing.
