Soulframe: Waste Bear Fable, Transmog, and New Features Coming This Month

Digital Extremes, the studio behind long-running sci-fi shooter
Warframe, is inching its next project Soulframe forward with another update to the closed Pre-Alpha. During the ninth developer livestream, the team confirmed that Update 11 lands on PC later in September, bringing a fresh story chapter, deeper customization, and a few quality-of-life tweaks for testers.

Soulframe is a free-to-play fantasy action RPG that trades Warframe’s gunplay for slower, melee-heavy combat and a focus on nature and restoration. Although only small waves of players have been invited so far, each “Preludes” patch has served as a public proof-of-concept while Digital Extremes builds the game in real time with community feedback.

  • Waste Bear Fable: A new narrative quest that sends Envoys into the Neath’uns, introduces Bromius as a corrupted “Omen Beast,” and culminates in a boss fight.
  • New Pact: Completing the Fable lets players align with Bromius, unlocking plant-themed abilities plus a furry armor set, a clawed cleaver, and a honey-pot shield.
  • Rank-up additions: Eight extra ranks arrive via the Rat Witch Verminia, opening transmog and color-swap options for gear.
  • Starter faction gear: Choosing Alca’s Children, Kith of Kings, or Silent Rose at the beginning now grants an exclusive armor set unique to that faction.
  • Music drops: Two tracks—“Song of Waste” and “Song of Growth”—will hit YouTube and streaming platforms, adding to the game’s growing soundtrack.

Digital Extremes says Update 11 should be the final patch before the studio expands testing to a broader audience, though it has not committed to a public alpha date. For now, curious players can register on the game’s official site and hope for an invitation as Soulframe slowly takes shape.
